Happy Hanukkah and Thanks for Reading!

Happy 2007 Hanukkah everyone! It starts tonight, actually I am cooking right now and decided to take a short break just to wish everyone All The Best!

I also came across this wonderful 30 seconds rendition of Hanukkah Song on YouTube. Great voice, I think you will enjoy it!

Actually, I had a pretty bad day today, but being with family and posting on blog right now makes me feel much better. Kids have been waiting for their gifts, which are going to be cool games and movies, as usual. What’s the birthday wish of our soon to be 4 year old? Latest Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga edition for XBox 360! But of course he loves the actual Lego sets just as much, and the HotWheels and pretty much anything else they show on Nick and Disney channel TV Ads :-)

Wives versus Mistresses

I guess I walked into this one, who knew that this would be such popular topic on everyone’s mind ;-)

Disclaimer: The discussion henceforth is purely theoretical in nature.

I have been thinking lately about this whole Mistress as a concept. Especially after watching some good sexy yet mostly comic situations with mistresses in this new Dirty Sexy Money show.

The word itself, Mistress, is by definition a woman; also, according to Merriam-Webster, the word has been around since at least 14th century. Whatever your belief for human Creationism, it seems to me that tiny miscalculation might have occurred. Once a woman takes on motherhood responsibility, especially with more than one child, there is rarely enough time or energy left for the significant other. Second part to this is the whole "managing the household", where traditionally women are expected to take care of the home, adding yet another huge layer to their overall busyness and ultimate exhaustion.

On the other hand, the busy husband, though often tired as well (livelihood is hard!), appears to be Designed as a constant machine for sperm production! No monthly periods here, no yearly hiatuses, nothing!

I am not aware of any Male equivalent to the word Mistress, though feel free to enlighten me here. Thus, it appears that for many centuries now, human race recognized a specific position, almost like job description, of Mistress - woman other than wife with whom a married man has a continuing sexual relationship.

However, "miscalculation" in creationism (or maybe the ultimate correction?) continues here! By nature, Women are Emotional and Sensitive, so nothing "Casual" can work for more than a few times! And here’s ultimate trouble — if the two "jobs" are separate, then a woman will have to choose, whether to procreate or be a Mistress for a lifetime. Since, by our calculations above, if a woman ever stops being a mistress, and becomes a mother, than the position of mistress becomes available for the taking… (I am avoiding the whole reasons one may convince herself to be a mistress. Things such as Fun, Political/Business Influence, or ultimate attempt to "steal" a man, are usually delusions, and can only last for so long… )

In conclusion, if we really consider the implications for both men and women, the only recourse is to consolidate these seemingly two separate jobs into one person. And here’s my personal tip for achieving success here:

Guys – Remember that "managing household" and "motherhood" are only traditionally women job. Help balance this load and it’s a Win Win scenario for both of you!

Gals – Remember that guys seem to be "built" this way by design; so remember to pay equal attention to both important jobs that you have in the relationship!

A Very Important Post about Nothing!

I want you Welcome to November! Time sure flies when you’re having fun, NOT! You know it’s all downhill from here, when I am opening with a Not joke.

I have been busy with silly things lately, and overall more agitated than usual, for some unknown reason. Unfortunately, that means less blog posts for you, dear readers. I have many topics I have been thinking of blogging about, and instead decided to let You choose. Simply post in the comments, if any of the subjects below are of interest to you, and I will blog about them sooner, rather than later. It will be motivational for me also!

  • RSS Readers Primer – What the Heck are those and why should one care?!
  • Wives versus Mistresses – Two very important jobs or is it one?
  • Dell’s Vostro Laptop – Our recent purchase which is waiting for review here
  • Personal Computing – What’s next for us? What’s next in innovation here!?
  • Wi Fi Networks – The skinny on troubleshooting and optimizing your wireless
  • Essence of Life – Enjoy Life, even if it kills you (eventually)?
  • Media Buffet – Coming to a monitor near you! Jump Ship Now!
  • To Mac or Not To Mac – That is the Question
  • Fresh Milk – But for how long? This spells doom for your local grocer?
  • FolderShare – The next big thing! Brought to you by Microsoft??
  • Behind the Scenes in Vista – Stability, Shmability, Performance, Shmeformance

Not too many choices, so choose wisely ;-) . And Yes, you are allowed to ask for more than one subject, or suggest another topic altogether.

Why get your own Dot Com blog?!

When I launched this site, several months ago, a good friend asked me why would I bother the expense, the time and the complexity of having my own separate Dot Com blog, when there are so many other web sites out there for blogging these days.

Well, here’s a perfect example why: Yahoo! 360, home of my earlier blog, is being “turned off“. Yes, they are promising to keep our content, although at this time they aren’t sure on what site or in which form…

yahoo360-logo Actually, I trust Yahoo! and I think they are doing the right thing. I wouldn’t have created my blog there in the first place if I did not have full trust in them (Full disclosure: I own some Yahoo! stock). They are going through some management turmoil now, and these are rough times while many leading tech companies (Microsoft comes to mind!) trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t, and what is the best model for the future of computing for masses.

So, back to the issue at hand. When this blog launched, I actually used another Web Host. Since I own my domain, it took only about half an hour to completely move my blog with All Its Content to a new provider. And the best thing, my readers did not feel a thing. I still have the same address in the vastness of the Internet, which is very important.

By the way, same thing goes for email! In this day and age I am just shocked when I hear anyone using their Internet Provider email address. What is this qtpie@comcast.nët email you are giving out to people??? What will you do when you change to DSL provider next year? Or move to a state without Comcast? Why loose your email identity, your connection to friends? Why not utilize Yahoo! Mail or GMail or Hotmail (by Microsoft), which are all free!

If you are still reading this long post, then here are some things useful for you. Probably, one of the easiest options to get your own .Com with Blog going these days is provided by WordPress.com. For a little extra pay you can even point your actual .Com domain there, giving you a complete solution. Blog Action Day – The Environment

Comments Off

Blog Action DayToday’s post is about The Environment. Our Planet, and what are You doing to help save it? What actions are You taking daily to better the planet for our Children?

Blog Action Day organizers have big time sponsors on-board, all coming together in a common goal to promote message about the importance of saving our planet and the environment.

Our household, for example, has been using Fluorescent Light Bulbs for years, almost exclusively. Although it costs more per bulb, it pays for itself in no time. Of course it saves energy, using as little as 25% of the energy versus regular light-bulb. But then it’s also long lasting, so we usually don’t need to replace light bulbs for years. Win Win! The only issue with them is the trouble of recycling old bulbs properly, since they contain a little bit of mercury. Speaking of Recycling, this is another something our household been doing since forever. Recycling Plastics, Cans, Glass Jars is easier than you may think, and it also helps Our Planet!

Finally, we are always looking for more ways to save energy. Solar panels are still very expensive, unfortunately, which is shame since there is plenty of sun here in Georgia. Buying Energy Efficient Appliances is the other big way to save energy!

All other ideas are welcome, so go ahead, don’t be shy and comment away!
